Videopro Business Centre: Broadcast & Production in partnership with Communications and Training Solutions are proud to announce the launch of our hands on video camera training courses in Brisbane.

 

The 3 day “Essential Skills Course” has been designed for anyone that wants to correctly use and get the most out of their video camera. The course also exposes students to the “tricks of the trade” and consists of 8 sessions covering the essential skills that are required to shoot professional looking videos.

Lead by industry respected freelance cameraman Geoff Stock who has over 30 years of experience in the industry. Geoff has shot commercials, corporate videos, current affairs, lifestyle shows, reality TV, documentaries the list goes on, you name it he has shot it. The “Essential Skills Course” has taken all of Geoff’s knowledge and provided an opportunity for anyone who wants to dramatically increase his or her knowledge, skills and ability. The hands-on approach shows students that they too can achieve videos that look like they belong on TV!

 

Geoff has completed his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and has written the Course using the national guidelines for competency- based training and assessment.

 

Course Elements

·         Working Safely – covers the safety issues relating to camerawork.

·         Pre-Shoot Checklist – actions that can be taken to avoid the many problems that can arise on a shoot.

·         Composition and Framing –Covering basic camera functions & techniques to improve the camera operator’s skills dramatically.

·         Shot Sizes – exposure to the different types and sizes of shots and how they can be used.

·         Sequences – shows how to shoot a professional sequence or story using the skills covered in the previous sessions.

·         Lighting – covers different lighting scenarios & set-ups that are the most useful.

·         Sound – sound gathering techniques to dramatically improve the audio component of video production.

·         Editing – a basic explanation of non-linear editing and how it relates to what participants have learnt to shoot.

All equipment provided (you can even bring your own camcorder/equipment to learn how to get the most out of them!)

AVID Training Courses


Avid Training MC 101 | Avid Media Composer Editing

This 3-day course introduces the concepts of nonlinear editing and includes all basic features of the Media Composer system

Session time is divided between demonstration and hands-on practice, with ample time for experimentation with sample SD and HD material. Students will use Avid Media Composer to capture and organize source footage, edit sync and non-sync material, trim sequences, edit audio, create titles, and output work. This course is also appropriate for Avid Symphony users.

Prerequisites: Designed for the novice Avid Media Composer editor, no familiarity with the system is necessary. Completion of a Windows or Macintosh introductory course or equivalent and a background in editing, production, or post-production is strongly suggested. 

Course Costs:  $1,475.00 inc GST for 3 days.

Avid Training MC 201 | Advanced Techniques for Avid Media Composer

This 2-day course is designed for experienced Avid Media Composer (or Symphony) editors who want to become more productive by mastering the system’s sophisticated editing features and shortcuts.

Students also learn advanced techniques to help streamline system, media, and project management. Sessions include instructor-led demonstration and hands-on practice. Topics include: editing features (such as Sync Point Editing and Replace Edit), advanced trimming techniques, editing and viewing options, multicamera editing, sync audio methods, keyboard shortcuts, user settings, and capturing and recapturing tips. Project, media, and system management topics include: improving Avid Media Composer performance and moving and deleting media.

Prerequisites: Completion of the 101 Avid Media Composer Editing course or the equivalent of six months' experience editing on the system is required. A background as editor, assistant editor, director, or producer is necessary.

Course Costs:  $1,094 inc GST for 2 days.
