Q Rail - Case Study

Q Rail

For the past 140 years QR has been a part of the Queensland landscape, providing not just rail services to Queenslanders but also as a vital part of local communities through employment and economic support, particularly for the rural and regional areas of the state.

QR is a $2 billion a year business and one of Australia’s largest and most modern transport providers? On any week day, the QR network operates 900 train services and moves more than 400 000 tonnes of freight. Around 160 000 passengers use QR each day for long distance and commuter journeys.

The Challenge

QRail was looking to introduce new technologies to enhance presentation and training environments.

The desired system design had to ensure simple ease of use across Qrail to cope with the large amount of users.

Qrail were limited by the existing technology in terms of upgradeability and compatibility.

There were also challenges in managing the scale, distribution and all over control of many systems.

Remote observation of satellite sites and room operations were a challenge for the organisation.

The footprint (size) of the AV products needed to be reduced to keep with the aesthetic design of the Qrail décor.

Training rooms needed to provide a simple to use teaching spaces.

The Fit-Out

  • Boardrooms - Lectern based touch panels and wall panel control systems.
  • Display devices, projector, plasma & LCD panels in the training and conference rooms.
  • Audio reinforcement solutions were installed across the organisation.
