Story Bridge Hotel - Case Study

Story Bridge Hotel

In 1886, the Story Bridge Hotel was born. Known originally as the Kangaroo Point Hotel it underwent a name change in 1940 to The Story Bridge Hotel to coincide with the actual opening of The Story Bridge. The original architecture of the building was classic "Queensland" style and is said to be one of only seven, three story Hotels in Queensland from this period.

The Story Bridge is one of the last remaining family owned and operated hotels in Brisbane. A true landmark, 'the bridge' has gained an enviable reputation for its fine food complimented by an extensive and interesting range of high quality flavoursome beers, wines and spirits.

The new Shelter Bar at the Story Bridge Hotel not only boasts impressive aesthetics, but also possesses an impressive automation system. This system controls the Hotel’s lighting, vision, audio, awning control, motorized louver control, CCTV and has the ability to schedule and automatically execute pre-programmed operations.

The Objective

In order to match the innovative nature of the construction, Videopro Business Centre was commissioned the audiovisual installation into their creative vision.

This attention to detail is reflected in the complexity of the installation’s requirements – integrating existing audiovisual equipment with new technology to form a complete system. The construction of the new addition was constrained by the unique nature of the Bar’s location! The pylons of the bridge had to be kept separate from the new construction, and the audiovisual equipment was no exception – innovative brackets and wiring were used to comply with these regulations without compromising the entertainment result.

The control system can be operated via a user friendly touch screen positioned in the Bar or via a desktop PC located in the management office.
