ICB Central

As part of our long-term relationship with Queensland Health, Videopro was engaged to design and install audiovisual facilities in 48 rooms at the new building located at Herston. Opposite the Royal Brisbane Hospital, the new building provides added support for the Queensland health system.

With 48 rooms requiring new technology, this large-scale project has taken approximately 10 months to complete from first contact to completion. In this time, Videopro has integrated a unique audiovisual package to provide Queensland Health with the best opportunity to optimise limited health care resources in our state.

After detailed consultations with Queensland Health and Project Services to understand the requirements, the Videopro Integrated Solutions team proposed a multi-faceted audiovisual solution featuring the latest products and emerging technologies.

Interestingly, the new State Emergency Coordination Centre is part of the development. Requirements for this room were particularly demanding but naturally, the Integrated Solutions team rose to the task. It was imperative that the State Emergency Coordination Centre was not constricted by aging equipment and resources.

Consequently, this section alone features multiple LCD televisions with Foxtel, computers, lighting systems, widescreen projectors, interactive whiteboards, AMX touch screen panels, VGA systems and video switchers.

This technology was put to the test during the outbreak of swine flu and the floods of May 2009. Task force members stationed in the State Emergency Coordination Centre can effortlessly gain the right information at the right time. With the ability to diffuse information with minimal effort, resources related to emergency situations can be coordinated better than ever before.

The press conference room also has unique requirements that must be met in order to provide the people of Queensland with the most accurate information possible. Videopro designed the system to house full compatibility with television cameras.

From a practical perspective, cameramen and news reporters can simply plug in and directly record footage in the press conference room. Such facilities ensure that viewers at home can receive information from the appropriate authorities without delay.

In addition to these two featured rooms, three separate conference rooms and multiple large meeting rooms are equipped with LCD panels and interactive whiteboards to enable greater communication.

Account Manager Ken Hawkins summarised the project best when he stated, “Technology was the key driver in providing solutions to the many and varied situations confronting health professionals in this day and age. From touch panel technology providing control over the majority of the audio visual products through to data projectors and commercial grade panels, this state of the art facility provides the mechanism to take Queensland Health well into the future.“ Videopro is proud to have provided such exceptional technology to a facility that demands the best in evolving technologies.
